The Mezzosoprano was born in Hungary and studied  at the Franz Liszt Academy of Musik in Budapest. In 1992 and 1993, she won a scolarship to take part in the singer's masterclasses (Christoph Eschenbach) and concerts in the Pasific Music Festival in Sapporo.
 In 1993 she won the Ist prize in the first International Baroque Singing Competition and the special prize from the Hungarian Radio and Television.                                        She sang several oratorios and concert performances with conductors Tamas Vasary, Kobayashi Ken-Ichiro and Herbert Boek.                              In 1996, she made her first CD-recording "Galuppi:Il Cafe di Campagna" with conductor Fabio Pirona.            (Hungaroton:HCD-31658-59).         When she completeed her studies in 1997, she was engaged by the Hungarian State Opera House in Budapest.

In 1998, she was a soloist at the Theatre Bielefeld in Germany and made her debut as Olga(Onegin), which was followed by Carmen, Nicklaus(Hoffmann), Hänsel and Maddalena(Rigoletto).

Since 2000, she has been engaged by the Nationaltheatre  Mannheim and sang with great success her debut, the part of Judith in Bartok's Bluebeard's Castle with conductor Adam Fischer. Other roles include: Charlotte(Werther), Romeo(I Capuleti e i Montecchi), Nicklaus(Hoffmann), Hänsel, Oktavian(Rosenkavalier), Suzuki(Butterfly),
 Marina(Boris Godunov), Hermia(A Midsummer Night's Dream), Maddalena(Rigoletto)
Cherubino
(Le nozze di Figaro), Annio and Sesto(La clemenza di Tito),
 Prinz Orlofsky(Fledermaus), Marina(Boris Godunov), Princess Julie(Fiesque),
Smeton
(Anna Bolena), Lucilla(La Scala die Seta) Preziosilla(La Forza del destino)
Frugola(Il Tabarro), La Zia Principessa(Suor Angelica), Zita(Gianni Scicchi)
and the titel role of Carmen.

In 2003, Andrea Szanto made her debut in the Hungarian State Opera House as Sesto and in the Bregenzer Festspiele as Zeffka in Janacek's The Diary of the One who Vanished (CD Live- Recordig VMS 144 ORF  Janacek:Tagebuch eines Verschollenen/Poulenc: La Voix humaine).

She sang in 2004 Judith(Duke Bluebeard`s Castle) in the Scottish Opera`s new production and again in Japan with the Nagoya Symphony Orchestra.
Guest engagement followed at the Opera Hannover in the role of Romeo(I Capuleti e i Montechi).

In 2006, her first Judith at the Budapest Spring Festival and her portrayal the role of Carmen at Scottish Opera in Glasgow won great acclaim.

Andrea has sang in 2007 the title role of Carmen at the Graz Opera House.
 
She has been invited by conductor Vjekoslav Sutej to sing the mezzo-soprano solo in Verdi´s Requiem in Zagreb in the October of 2007.

In 2008, Andrea has made her double debut at the Frankfurt Opera House with the part of Frugola(Il tabarro) and she sang the title part of Carmen at the Schwerin Open Air Festival in Germany. She has also recently jumped in of the renewal performance Carmen at the Wiesbaden Opera House.
    

Her new debut roles at the Nationaltheatre of Mannheim in the Saison 2008/09 were:
Santuzza(Cavalleria Rusticana)  and Queen Elisabeth(Maria Stuarda).
Other major parts:  Frugola(Il Tabarro),La Zia Principessa(Suor Angelica),
 Zita(Gianni Scicchi), Lucilla(La Scala die Seta), Hänsel(Hänsel&Gretel),
Prinz Orlofsky(Fledermaus) and Suzuki(Madama Butterfly).

In 2011/12  after the Baby-Pause, Andrea continues her engagement with the Nationaltheater Mannheim. Her Debut and major roles are:
 Dalila(Samson et Dalila), Laura and Cieca(Gioconda) and the title role of Carmen.
